You may be taking care of others' needs more than your own, which may make you feel tired today. It might be that helping other people makes you feel like a good person and your needs may not seem as important. While supporting those around you is wonderful, today could be a good time to think about the reasons why you are placing others first. Perhaps you can consider your motives for helping such as if you are doing it from a place of unconditional love with a desire for nothing in return or because you have been taught that self-sacrifice contributes to your sense of self-worth. Understanding the real reasons why you put others first may make it easier to recognize what you should focus on in your own life.

Giving others our support only has value if we take care of ourselves first. Putting other people's needs before our own may seem noble, but if by doing so we drain ourselves of our energy, our care is only a pretense. The true nature of the caring relationship is symbiotic -- we give when we are able to and are fueled by the energy we receive. When we give of ourselves but become exhausted, it means that our help is either not wanted or not done with a sincere intention. Realizing this allows us to use our energy where it truly counts and not where we think it would be beneficial. Knowing your boundaries today will give you a greater sense of your own needs and infuse your life with more energy.
