Car of the Week: 1952 Ford Victoria

Fords first completely new postwar car became available for the 1949 model year during June 1948 far earlier than the usual fall introductions. Those 1949 Fords helped the company survive and even recover from severe financial mismanagement by company founder Henry Ford following Edsel Fords death.

Beginning in 1952, Fords series offerings were expanded from four to five. Replacing the Custom and Custom Deluxe six- and eight-cylinder series were the Mainline in six- and eight-cylinder series, Customline six- and Customline eight-cylinder series and Crestline, which was offered only with the V-8. Lowriders drop into the Route 66 Gallery at Americas Car Museum

TACOMA, Wash. Americas Car Museum (ACM) is cycling 11 lowriders, a couple of lowrider-themed bicycles and various artwork into its Route 66 display to celebrate Americas lowrider pastime.

As one of ACMs rotating exhibits, Route 66 regularly undergoes change-outs and modifications to tell a variety of stories that define different aspects of Americas motoring heritage this time giving a nod to lowriders that were heavily influenced by Southern Californias Chicano culture during the 50s, when this then-new type of motoring hobby started. Past Route 66 themes include hot rods, station wagons, convertibles and more.
