The Advocate's Top Headlines

with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editor

Thanks for stopping in today. Here are some of our top headlines:

It's a snake: Cara's roam through the Mall of Louisiana is over. The Burmese python was captured early this morning after being on the loose much of the week. She's due for a doctor's visit at the LSU vet school today. There's video of the recovery here.

Guard sues state: A former Louisiana prison guard is sued the state Department of Corrections, saying unsafe working conditions led to her being raped by an inmate. Lea Skene writes about the case here.

Family sues city police: The family of a boy arrested after a traffic stop last year has sued BRPD, saying officers used too much force. Police officials have said previously that the officers acted properly.

Movie time: Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh made his name in Baton Rouge with “Sex, Lie and Videotape.” His latest, “No Sudden Move,” is another winner from the prolific maker of heist movies. Read our review here.
