What I hope comes through in my work is simply something honest, human, and beautiful.' 'I put a significant part of myself into what I do and in some ways every painting is a self portrait. Because of this there is a great vulnerability and I want that vulnerability to feel as real to others as it is for me.' Carla Louise Paine, born in 1982 in Denver Colorado, was educated in the traditions and techniques of classical oil painting in Florence, Italy. There, at the Florence Academy of Art, she completed three years of intense study, spending her last 2010 trimester in Sweden at the Academy's Scandinavian branch. Prior to that she studied at the highly regarded School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Carla has received numerous awards for her work including first place and other accolades from the Portrait Society of America, first place from the Almenara art prize, and multiple awards over the years from the Art Renewal Center including two times 'Best Nude.' She has also twice received 'best figurative' from the International Guild of Realism, and won multiple Bold Brush Art Awards. Her work was on the cover of The Guide Artists Magazine in 2023 and her paintings have been published over the years in magazines such as Southwest Art Magazine, International Artist Magazine, American Art Collector Magazine, and The Artist's Magazine. Carla has been a participant in exhibitions nationwide and overseas and her work can be found in both public and private collections. Living in Washington State since 2010, Carla has set up her studio on her family's small farm just outside of the state's capitol, Olympia. Creating Art is about Creating Magic.
