9th Edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award

 
'Arctic: New Frontier' by Yuri Kozyrev and Kadir van Lohuizen
 
During the course of their unprecedented photographic investigation entitled 'Arctic: New Frontier',Yuri Kozyrev and Kadir van Lohuizen, co-laureates of the 9th Edition of the Carmignac Award, explored the effects of climate change over more than 15,000 kilometres of this territory, also addressing its consequences for the rest of the planet. Their photographs are presented as part of two photography festivals this summer:

10th Edition: The laureate will be announced on Wednesday, 4th September 2019
 
10th Edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award and 10 years of the Award

The laureate of the 10th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award dedicated to the Amazon and the issues related to its deforestation will be announced on Wednesday 4th September at the Festival Visa pour l'Image in Perpignan.
The announcement of dates and place of exhibition for the 10th edition will be accompanied by the projection of photographs from the reportage, as well as a retrospective projection celebrating 10 years of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award.

11th Edition: Call for Applications open until 16th October 2019
 
Theme: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

The 11th edition of the Carmignac Photojournalism Award is dedicated to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and to the human, health, social and ecological challenges it is facing today. The call for applications will be open until 16th October 2019.

A pre-jury, made up of experts in photography, media and from the art world, will select between 12 and 15 proposals from those received. The jury, consisting of specialists in photography and in the given theme, will then convene to select a single laureate.

At the end of the selection process, the jury meets the nominated photographer, in order to talk to him or her and provide, if necessary, the support he or she will need throughout the carrying out of their project – from the preparation of the reportage to its final exhibition. Photographers can submit their applications until 16th October.

Collaboration with Time for The Ocean
 
The Fondation Carmignac, through the Carmignac Photojournalism Award and in collaboration with "Time for the Ocean", participates in the 3rd edition of "24 Hours for the Ocean", on the theme of "Art and Environment", which will take place on 24th August at Deauville.

Charles Carmignac, Director of the fondation Carmignac, will take part in a conference on Plastic Pollution, its challenges and its solutions’. Photographs from "Wasteland", a project about the disposal of plastic waste in the ocean by Kadir van Lohuizen (laureate of the 9th edition of the Carmignac Award on the Arctic) will be presented on Lucien Barrière street, facing the beach, in Deauville.
