MAKING DO: Carnival parade insiders said Friday they’ll make do with shortened routes in 2023 for the second consecutive year in New Orleans, in light of a continuing shortage of police officers and other municipal workers working the parades. Some expressed disappointment that the floats won’t roll on Magazine Street upriver of Napoleon Avenue. CLAIBORNE EXPRESSWAY: New Orleans and Louisiana officials this week asked the federal government for a $47 million grant to improve the North Claiborne Avenue corridor beneath Interstate 10, in a proposal that falls far short of removing the elevated highway altogether. KAMARA SUED: The man whom Alvin Kamara is accused in criminal court of attacking outside a Las Vegas nightclub in February sued the New Orleans Saints’ running back Friday for $10 million.
