Kirstan Murphy: Gastro-Oesophageal Cancer Research Funded through the Musgrave PhD Scholarship, Kirstan Murphy is working at the Trinity St. James Cancer Institute in the lab of Dr. Niamh Lynam-Lennon.
Kirstan’s research targets gastro-oesophageal cancers, focusing on new treatment pathways that could lead to more effective therapies, improving not only survival rates but also the quality of life for people with these challenging cancers.
Nial O’Reilly: Colorectal Cancer Research Through the Breakthrough Cancer Research–Irish Association of Cancer Research (Breakthrough IACR) PhD Scholarship, Nial O'Reilly is pursuing research at the University of Galway under the guidance of Dr. Aideen Ryan.
Nial's work focusses on a major obstacle in colorectal cancer treatment: resistance to therapies. By identifying ways to reduce resistance, Nial’s research aims to make treatments more successful for people with colorectal cancer.
Marika Kanjuga: Ovarian Cancer Research The Attracta O’Regan PhD Scholarship has been awarded to Marika Kanjuga, whose research is taking place at the Trinity St. James Cancer Institute in Dr. Sharon O’Toole’s lab.
Marika's work is focused on early detection of ovarian cancer, which is critical for improving outcomes, as early-stage diagnosis greatly increases treatment options and effectiveness.
These talented scholars represent the future of cancer research, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative approaches that could make a real difference for people with cancer and their families. Thank you for being part of making this research possible.
