Dear John,

Today, Ascension Thursday, marks the fortieth day after Easter. This is when the Church has traditionally celebrated the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord.

However, many places in the world — including most of the dioceses in the United States — transfer the feast to the following Sunday, which falls on May 29 this year.

If you would like to learn more about the Ascension of the Lord, we hope you will visit our online resource that discusses several questions, such as:

  • What does Christ’s Ascension mean for us?
  • What instructions did Jesus give His disciples before He returned to Heaven?
  • What were Jesus’ last recorded words?

While you’re on the page, you can sign up for a free eBook, Meditations on the Ascension of the Lord. You can visit the page and sign up for the free eBook here: ewtn.com/Ascension.

On Tuesday, May 31, we will celebrate the Feast of the Visitation. This commemorates when the Blessed Virgin Mary visited Judea to help Saint Elizabeth through her final months of pregnancy.

We have a page for this feast, too. And while you’re on the page, you can sign up for the free eBook, Mary, My Mother, filled with Marian quotes, reflections, and prayers.

We hope that these pages will strengthen your faith and deepen your love for the Lord.

In Christ,

Your EWTN Family
