Celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee at Southbank Centre You may have heard... the Queen's marking her Platinum Jubilee this June, and Southbank Centre is offering Londoners plenty of ways to celebrate her 70-year reign, from classical and jazz concerts, to family-friendly theatre shows, to a day of music and punk, including a conversation with director Danny Boyle discussing his new Sex Pistols miniseries, Pistol.
The programme, called simply 'Jubilee', takes place Wednesday 1 — Sunday 5 June. Remember, Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June are special bank holidays, so you can really let loose. It's the first time a Platinum Jubilee has been celebrated, and the only one most of us will see in our lifetimes, so make the most of it!

The Queen's Suite When American composer Duke Ellington met the Queen in 1958, it inspired him to write The Queen's Suite — and now, you can hear the beautiful jazz composition, performed live by the Nu Civilisation Orchestra. Quite a treat, considering that for 40 years, the only known recording of the piece was in the hands of the Royal Household!
