This week, as we celebrate 30 years of the seminal RN program,
Life Matters, we also say farewell to a highly skilled and well-respected presenter.
Michael Mackenzie will depart from the ABC after 33 years. He began his radio career in Lismore, NSW, in 1989, working as a producer for Drive. Since then, he has told a diverse range of stories from all around the country.
He and co-host Hilary Harper joined Life Matters in 2019, bringing their warmth and enthusiasm to the beloved daily guide to Australian contemporary life.
Michael, you'll be dearly missed.
Tune in to the program's birthday celebrations, with
highlights from the archives,
insights from past presenters, and a
look back at how Australia has changed over the past three decades.
We also wish you and your loved ones a happy Mother's Day this Sunday. Celebrate with stories of
remarkable mothers in fiction and a
mother and son uncovering treasured memories thanks to a collection of saris.
Then, explore our exciting new podcasts, including
Return Ticket with Jonathan Green, which will take you on trips to far-flung destinations to dive into history, design, art and culture.
Plus, join religion and ethics reporter Siobhan Marin on an investigation into the cosmetic enhancement industry in
Face Value, a new series by RN Presents.
Until next time,
Anna Levy, RN deputy digital editor
