Shalom,

For the past few months, Israel has been subjected to a series of new terror attacks, one of the worst periods in decades. Those events, however, did not prevent joyous celebrations throughout the country.

All schools are off today - young boys and girls from secular and religious backgrounds are found having bonfires and musical events organized by their teachers.

Today is Lag BaOmer, a mystical holiday celebrating the ancient wisdom of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai. It is also known as the day to commemorate the Bar Kokhba's revolt against the Roman Empire. That is why the Israeli government designated this day as the Day for Saluting the IDF Reserves.

Lag BaOmer is a symbol of the unbreakable Jewish spirit. Throughout our history, with enemies trying to destroy us and other calamities, we do not fall into despair. We stick to our traditions and continue building the Land where we belong.

There is another tradition we as people have been relentlessly committed to for thousands of years - performing acts of kindness. Feed Israel has been founded on the principle of this tradition. In addition to multiple programs, we deploy groups of volunteers to deliver food packages to those who need it most. That is our investment in building Israel for a better tomorrow.
