TOP OF THE AGENDA | Suspected killer fights NY extradition |
|
| | "I haven't seen any evidence that he's the shooter," said Mr Mangione's lawyer, Thomas Dickey. Credit: Reuters | Luigi Mangione had a message for the press as he arrived in court in Pennsylvania for an extradition hearing. The 26-year-old was heard shouting "completely unjust" and "insult to the intelligence of the American people" before he was led into court. His lawyer objected to Mr Mangione being moved to New York to face murder charges in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Prosecutors have yet to suggest a motive, but police said that a note found in his possession mentioned "his disdain for corporate America and in particular the healthcare industry." Former friends who spoke to the BBC said Mr Mangione had suffered from a back injury that required spinal surgery. |
