European elections to be followed by aftershocks

While Brussels and other European capitals are eagerly discussing future top EU staff, the German capital has been hit by a political quake. An earthquake whose effects in and for Europe cannot be underestimated. For it is not "just" about the resignation of an SPD party and faction leader. With Andrea Nahles' departure, an important support of the Berlin GroKo vacates the political stage and raises much speculation thereby over the future of the government alliance of Union and SPD. In view of the enormous challenges facing Europe and the expectations of its citizens (the elections have shown this). Germany needs clarity and a government capable of acting. This is in the interest of both Germany and Europe. Hopefully all actors are aware of this.
