Sour gherkin time adieu
Summer has not been a sour gherkin time for a few years now. Those who did not think this was the case in the past, might be convinced of it in the last weeks. Not only have the news about heat/drought/climate change determined the news, but also the current and future orientation of European economic, defense and migration policy. Time and again, one name has played a major role: Ursula von der Leyen. Since it was decided that she will lead the future EU Commission, enormous hopes and expectations have been placed on her. While in recent weeks she has focused her appearances seemingly logically on all the important issues that need to be tackled at European level, much will now depend on whether she succeeds in recruiting the correspondingly proficient personnel. The European Parliament - one can assume with certainty - will pay very close attention to this.
