{A French message will follow} Dear John, As we continue preparing for the return of CFL football in Ottawa this summer, we wanted to update you on a League announcement today regarding some early stage discussions with the XFL on strategies to grow the popularity of football in North America and around the world. Growth and innovation have been a priority for Commissioner Randy Ambrosie since he first announced his CFL 2.0 vision for the future, which has so far resulted in partnerships with football leagues in Mexico, Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Italy. The XFL, which Ambrosie describes as, One of the most innovative sports brands in the world, was recently purchased by Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Dany Garcia and RedBird Capital Partners Inc. The Rock has Canadian roots through his father, who was born and raised in Nova Scotia. He has first-hand knowledge about the CFL, and its passionate fans, from his time in the League as a defensive tackle with the Calgary Stampeders in 1995. Where will these discussions go? The League has pledged to keep fans updated if and when news emerges. Their focus is on identifying potential ways for the leagues to work together to grow the game of football, and its too early to know what those opportunities might look like. If youd like to read the League statement on the upcoming discussions, please click here . From a REDBLACKS perspective, we are 100% focused on preparing for the 2021 CFL season, safely getting our players back on the field, and welcoming you and the rest of RNation to TD Place. Well continue to update you as we progress toward having fans back in The Stadium this season. |
