2017 Milagros Del Corazon 18th Annual Fundraiser

CHAC Gallery & Cultural Center is currently planning our biggest annual fundraiser “Milagros del Corazon” or “Miracles of the Heart”.

Our event will take place Friday, February 10, 2017. Across the road at the new ReCreative Gallery located at 765 Santa Fe Drive. (Former Space, then Point Gallery)

For those of you who are not familiar with our event, let me give you a little information about it. We give out a blank wood heart, which is painted or decorated and donated back to us. The completed decorated hearts are put on the walls in a gallery, and a silent auction where people can bid on them the night of our event. The highest bidder takes home the heart they bid on! We have well known artists as well as community members, and children who participate by creating a wonderful heart art piece for us!

Our last fiscal year we served almost 23,000 individuals, with nearly 8500 children K-12 with our year round Cultural Arts Programming. This event will help boost and fund our surging outreach peresence in the community!

Please come and show your support for your Gallery and all of our Artistic outreach efforts!

SORR Mission Statement

The Sing Our Rivers Red (SORR) events aim to bring awareness to the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women and colonial gender based violence in the United States and Canada. The events strive to raise consciousness, unite ideas and demand action for Indigenous women, girls, Two Spirit and LGBTQQIA people who have been murdered or gone missing, tortured, raped, trafficked, and assaulted, who have not had the proper attention or justice. SORR also is being planned in solidarity and with collaborative spirit, meant to support the efforts built in Canada, as well as highlight the need for awareness and action to address colonial gender violence in the United States. Sing Our Rivers Red events recognize that each of us has a voice to not only speak out about the injustices against our sisters, but also use the strength of those voices to sing for our healing. Water is the source of life and so are women. We need to Sing Our Rivers Red to remember the missing and murdered and those who are metaphorically drowning in injustices. We are connecting our support through the land and waters across the border.

CHAC Norte Artists for February:

Michael Penny- Myths, symbols, and legends permeate all languages, cultures and lives. The influence mythology has in our most basic traditions can be observed in the language, customs, rituals, values and morals of every culture. One way of understanding a culture is to study the underlying mythological beliefs, the symbols used to represent myths, and understanding the legends of a culture. Such an exploration leads to a greater understanding of the essence of a culture.
I try to express the myths, symbols, and legends of ancient cultures through my art.
