Sporting and community groups are under increasing pressure to limit costs on participants and as a result are required to generate income from other sources including sponsorship to remain affordable and sustainable.

The City of Cockburn's Sponsorship and Naming Rights Policy seeks to provide guidance and direction to sporting and community organisations when seeking or negotiating sponsorship packages and signage.

Sponsorship and Naming Rights on City Controlled Land and/or Buildings

Where sporting and community groups are seeking to incorporate City recreational controlled land and/or buildings into sponsorship packages, they are required to consult with City Officers and seek approval to ensure:

Naming Rights Sponsorships
Any sponsorship package that includes naming rights of a land area or building must have a formal agreement developed and the agreement is to be approved by the City.

Sponsorship Signage
Sponsorship signage needs to be considered in conjunction with preserving the amenity of the City’s (public) controlled land area and building.

Illegal parking can be dangerous to pedestrians, cyclists and other road users and causes frustration and inconvenience.

Please remind your club members to adhere to parking regulations, road markings and signage at all times.

Parking Laws and Guidelines

The City has recently received numerous complaints about parking in and around sporting facilities, such as blocking driveways, parking on footpaths or in areas designated as No Parking.

Infringements can be issued when drivers do not adhere to the parking restrictions.

The City of Cockburn’s Parking and Facilities Local Law 2007 is designed to maximise the use of available road and footpath space and to provide access to parking for all motorists. The Law considers the requirements of businesses, visitors, residents and traffic management.

The regulations in these legal documents are enforceable at all times and do not require signage to be applied. However, parking signs may be installed to reinforce existing parking restrictions within the road reserve.
Healthway's Healthy Sporting Club Program

The Healthway Healthy Sporting Club Program is now open for summer applications until 24 September.

Clubs can apply for up to $4,000 to purchase kitchen equipment, participate in Fuel to Go & Play online training and run educational workshops with the aim to increase healthy food and drink options within the club’s canteen or kiosk.

This season, clubs can also reward a healthy club coordinator with a $400 voucher to coordinate the program.

VIEW PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Funding is available to all Western Australian community sporting clubs to help increase healthy food and drink options at club-run canteens or kiosks.

To apply for this funding, clubs must be competing in a recognised summer sporting competition.
