July Edition

Welcome back to sport
in WA
Welcome to the July edition of the City of Cockburn's Champion Clubs newsletter.

What  an extraordinary few months we’ve had. The City would like to acknowledge and thank all of our sporting clubs and the many volunteers for your hard work and dedication in recent times. It’s fanatic to see many sporting codes back up and running, much of which is due to the tremendous effort you’ve all displayed over the past few months.

In this edition we cover the following topics:
We encourage all recipients of this newsletter to forward on to other committee or club members, and as always, if your club is requiring advice at this time, please do not hesitate to contact Recreation Services for assistance via email or by calling our Customer Service line on 9411 3444.

2020 Winter/Summer sporting season crossover dates

As a result of Local Governments working with a number of State Sporting Associations regarding the impact of COVID-19 on sport within WA, there have been some changes to the crossover dates of winter and summer sports who access shared outdoor (green space) venues. Largely this comprises of:
  • Winter sports will have priority access to shared sports grounds up to and including the weekend of the 3rd and 4th October.
  • Summer sports will have priority access to shared sports grounds from the weekend of 17th and 18th October
  • The 2020/2021 summer season end date will not be extended beyond that of a normal season timeline to ensure season crossover periods return to normal.
Winter clubs are being asked to please complete the survey below to assist the City to schedule ground maintenance on the reserves. Pre-season training may be impacted for summer clubs if grounds are not accessible due to maintenance. We ask that clubs liaise with their co-tenants in the first place to arrange pre-season training, or contact the City’s Recreation Services team for assistance in identifying an alternate venue (if available).
