| Help shape the future of sporting facilities in Cockburn By 2041, Cockburn's population will be around 40% larger than it is today. We're planning what community, cultural, and recreation facilities the City needs now and, into the future, and we want your input. What we want to know To understand our community's needs better, we want to hear your views on sport, community, culture, art, and recreation and facilities including: Which ones meet your needs? Which ones need improving? What is missing and why is it important? Have your say by 4pm, Monday 3 April 2023 in one of the following ways: Online - Visit the Comment on Cockburn website to Pin your comments on our interactive map Complete the survey Join the community conversation forum Hard copy survey - Available at Cockburn libraries (Coolbellup, Spearwood, and Success) In person - Chat to us at 9am – 3pm, Saturday, 11 March – Cockburn Gateways Shopping Centre 9am – 12pm, Thursday, 16 March – Success Library 4pm – 7pm, Thursday 16 March – Cockburn ARC 9am – 12pm, Tuesday 21 March – Spearwood Library 4pm – 7pm, Thursday 23 March – Phoenix Shopping Centre Email -comment@cockburn.wa.gov.au Phone - 08 9411 3444 during business hours Some groups may have already been contacted by the external consultants who are assisting the City to develop the plan. Please continue with this process and we encourage you to still participate in the survey listed above. We also ask that you share it with your club members and encourage them to have their say too. If you haven’t been contacted by the City’s consultants and you would like the opportunity to meet one on one between now and Monday, 3 April 2023, please contact recreation@cockburn.wa.gov.au Why does the City want to hear from you? The City's current Community, Sport and Recreation Facilities Plan was developed in 2018 and outlines which facilities are upgraded, redeveloped or newly built in order of priority. However, much of the information is now out of date and as a result the City is undertaking a major review and it’s anticipated the priorities will be re-shaped for the future. What does the plan include? The plan covers major buildings and facilities (over $500,000) in Cockburn including: Libraries Arts and cultural facilities Community buildings and halls Sporting facilities, reserves, and club rooms Skate parks and pump tracks Specialised community facilities (e.g. Men's Sheds, Seniors Centres, Youth Centres, Surf Life Saving) It does not include transport networks, dog exercise areas, local playgrounds, state-owned services (e.g. schools, health care, Police, etc), or private businesses (e.g. cafes, restaurants, childcare centres, etc.). | Committees and meetings As summer clubs approach the end of their season, most will be holding their Annual General Meeting over the coming months. Your club’s AGM must be set and advertised publicly to all members and volunteers of your club as per the period of notice stated in your constitution, along with your quorum numbers. A quorum must be reached for an AGM to go ahead. Advertising for new committee members must be done prior to the AGM and if no nominations are received open the floor for members to nominate themselves on the night. Having clearly defined job descriptions can help with this. See more information on effective committee meetings and the roles and responsibilities of its members, see the Champion Clubs Guide on our website, including an agenda template that can be downloaded. |
