What a big Saturday it's shaping up to be in LSU athletics. LSU coach Jay Johnson made some major changes to his lineup and got a quality start from Ty Floyd, resulting in an 8-4 series-clinching win Friday at Georgia. The victory pushes the Tigers' record to 42-12 and 19-9 in SEC play going into the regular season's final day and sets up the following scenario: If LSU wins and Arkansas (39-14, 20-9) loses Saturday at Vanderbilt, the Tigers win the SEC regular-season championship. If LSU and Arkansas win, the Tigers finish a half-game back of the Razorbacks, in part because of their washed out game at South Carolina. A game LSU wanted to play that weekend last month in Columbia, but that's a whole other story. Of course, that blown nine-run lead LSU had against Mississippi State this past Sunday could be just as much of a culprit. Meanwhile, the LSU softball team run-ruled Prairie View 12-2 in five innings Friday in their NCAA Regional opener at Tiger Park to set up what seems like an almost annual occurrence: a marble game in an NCAA regional with the UL Ragin' Cajuns. Both the LSU baseball and softball games are at noon CDT, streaming live via WatchESPN. By the way, we've got a photo gallery for you from Friday's softball regional play. Sunday will mark 15 weeks until LSU's blockbuster football season opener Sept. 3 in Orlando against Florida State. Check out the latest odds on win totals for the Tigers and other college football teams. And, finally, the LSU women's golf team got a good first round from senior All-American Ingrid Lindblad in the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona. But like in their regional, the Tigers will have to fight out of a hole to make it to the eight-team match play with three more rounds to go. Thanks, everyone, for reading and subscribing.
