With Changing Views – 20 Years of Art Collection Deutsche Börse Foam showcases an extensive range of works from one of the most important corporate collections of contemporary photography.

The Art Collection Deutsche Börse comprises approximately 1800 works from over 120 international photographers, including iconic names like Diane Arbus, Walker Evans, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Rineke Dijkstra, Dana Lixenberg, younger photographers like Tobias Zielony and Mike Brodie and hidden gems like Gerd Danigel or Gabriele and Helmut Nothhelfer. The exhibition period consists of four back-to-back presentations that record positions on the key themes of the collection, with works by different photographers. This concept celebrates the variety and in-depth quality of the Art Collection Deutsche Börse. The first chapters were Germany and Icons. Currently on show is Traces of Disorder (until 23 June), and from the 25th of June the last chapter will start: Youth Culture (until 7 July).

YOUTH CULTURE

Youth Culture presents a selection of works by photographers who are attentive to the lives and attitudes of the youthful. The pictures by Tobias Zielony show young people in public spaces. Whether the photos were taken in Wales, Marseille or Los Angeles, the subject remains the same; hanging around on the street and on chosen ‘stages’ such as parking lots or gas stations. Joseph Szabo took pictures of young people for over 25 years (he started with the students in his photography class). His portraits from the seventies and the eighties sometimes show the sombreness that teens have around them, but also their unrestrained lust for life. Mike Brodie took pictures of his friends who whilst trainhopping were looking for freedom and an alternative way of living. One of the most influencial series by Susan Meiselas is Prince Street Girls. In this series she made portraits of a group of girls on their way to adulthood. Besides that this series is also about the gentrification of New York.
