Cultural stigmas and intergenerational traumas make navigating mental health in the Asian American community complex, but modern day practitioners and healers offer expansive frameworks for a holistic approach. Hosted by Bay Area journalist Cecilia Lei, join KQED and CAAMFest for an empowering evening to redefine community resilience by honoring all parts of ourselves.

The event will feature comedy by Kristee Ono; a discussion between licensed therapist Soo Jin Lee of the Yellow Chair Collective, healing practitioner Angela Basbas Angel and community activist, author and filmmaker Satsuki Ina; and a tasting of bites by Chef Yana Gilbuena.

NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest is hitting the road! Join us this summer for a one-of-a-kind concert experience showcasing the incredible talent of the 2024 Contest Winner, plus some amazing Tiny Desk Contest artists from each city.

Nearly 6,000 unsigned bands and artists entered the Tiny Desk Contest in 2024. Our judges picked one winner who will get to perform behind the Tiny Desk at NPR’s headquarters, and we discovered many great musicians along the way. Now, we’re teaming up with Member stations to take the show across the country this summer.

The 2024 Tiny Desk Contest is presented by Capital One.

The inaugural CalMatters Ideas Festival will bring together policy leaders and journalists in Sacramento for a two-day experience offering interviews, lectures, debates and panel discussions that explore major current issues. Speakers include Julián Castro, CEO of the Latino Community Foundation; Nicholas Johnson, public policy director for Lyft; and Barbara McQuade, a former U.S. attorney and MSNBC legal analyst.
