Welcome to the inaugural issue of our new Sunday Companion! If you look forward to your daily dose of wit and wisdom from The Old Farmer’s Almanac, we think you’ll enjoy this slight twist on what you’ve already been enjoying. You might find the tone and layout a bit different, but we promise to deliver the same great information that you’re used to finding in your Inbox.

We wanted to start by checking in. How are you doing? Taking care to eat well, drink enough water, and get some fresh air at least once a day? Stepping out onto your balcony or patio counts. If you’ve been on the Internet at all lately (and who hasn’t?!?!), you've seen a lot of talk about making the most of this time, including lots of opinions on how to be your best, most productive self.

While we applaud people who are trying to get in the best shape of their lives and teach the kids astrophysics between bouts of writing The Next Great Novel, we think it’s okay to just do the best you can for yourself and your loved ones. Remember, you might not be able to control what’s happening, but you can control how you react to it.

A lot of us are baking! But what to do when you run out of flour? Try these oh-so-chocolatey brownies made from black beans! If brownies aren’t to your liking, check out these baked goods—from muffins to flatbreads—that use little to no flour.

For many of us, now is the time to transplant seedlings into the garden. This can be a delicate process, so consider hardening off seedlings before settling them outside. While we’re on the subject of gardening tricks, did you know you can change the color of your hydrangeas?
