Study Shows First Practical Intervention for Chemobrain Last week, the Journal of Clinical Oncology published a report on the first study to show a practical intervention for cancer-related cognitive decline—often called “chemobrain.” Up to 70% of cancer patients who are treated with chemotherapy experience cognitive decline, and those symptoms can persist for 10 years or more. Many are taken by surprise, unaware that cognitive impairment is a common side effect of cancer and cancer treatment.
The primary measure in the study was patient-reported cognitive symptoms. In the 242-person study, people who used certain BrainHQ exercises reported significantly fewer symptoms of cognitive impairment immediately after training and six months later when compared to a control group.
