La segunda vuelta de las elecciones al Senado tendrá lugar este viernes y sábado en la Republica Checa.
La votación estará abierta este viernes de las 14:00 horas a las 22:00 horas y el sábado de las 8:00 horas a las 14:00 horas. A los comicios fueron invitados 2,24 millones de electores. Los resultados se publicarán el sábado por la tarde.
El opositor partido ANO, del antiguo primer ministro Andrej Babiš, se posiciona como favorito. Mientras que los partidos de la coalición gubernamental mantendrán la mayoría en el Senado de 81 escaños, ANO aspira a aumentar significativamente su representación.
El presidente Petr Pavel se reunió con cientos de expatriados checos en Berwyn, cerca de Chicago. El evento, celebrado en el Sokol Tábor Hall, marcó el punto culminante de la Semana de la Herencia Checa, que se lleva a cabo del 21 al 28 de septiembre bajo el patrocinio del alcalde de Chicago, Brandon Johnson.
En su discurso, Pavel agradeció a los expatriados por mantener vivas las tradiciones checas y destacó la importancia de los fuertes lazos entre los EE. UU. y Europa. También destacó la próxima introducción del voto por correo para los checos en el extranjero, a partir del próximo año. Este viernes, el presidente Pavel se dirigirá a Cedar Rapids, Iowa, para visitar el Museo y Biblioteca Nacional Checo y Eslovaco.
Un exdiputado checo, Peter Wolf, buscado por fraude desde 2013, ha sido detenido en Paraguay. La Policía paraguaya, en colaboración con Interpol, logró capturar al antiguo político socialdemócrata, quien se encontraba prófugo desde hacía más de una década.
Wolf, de 64 años y oriundo de Ostrava, fue condenado en ausencia a seis años de prisión por fraude. La captura de Wolf, abre la posibilidad de su extradición a la República Checa. La falta de un acuerdo de cooperación entre ambos países había dificultado hasta ahora su localización y arresto.
Aproximadamente dos tercios de los refugiados de guerra ucranianos que actualmente viven en la República Checa quieren permanecer en el país después de que expiren sus visas de protección. Sin embargo, alrededor del 20% de los refugiados registrados planean regresar finalmente a su tierra natal después del final de la guerra. Este es el resultado de una encuesta realizada por el Centro de Investigación de Opinión (CVVM) de la Academia Checa de Ciencias por encargo del Ministerio del Interior.
Unos 320.000 refugiados han solicitado la prórroga de sus visas de protección en lo que va de año, alrededor del 60% eran mujeres, informó el Ministerio.
La población de Chequia disminuyó en 21.500 personas en el primer semestre del año, hasta los 10,9 millones, según los datos publicados el viernes por la Oficina Checa de Estadística.
La tendencia a la baja se debe en gran medida al exceso de muertes por nacimientos. La oficina registró 41.600 recién nacidos, lo que representa una caída interanual del 10 por ciento, mientras que murieron más de 55.500 personas.
Alrededor de 100 familias de la región de Moravia-Silesia perdieron sus hogares debido a las inundaciones de hace casi dos semanas. Por ello, las administraciones distritales y municipales buscan alojamientos de emergencia, como casas móviles o contenedores. Así lo declaró el viernes a la prensa el gobernador del distrito, Josef Bělica.
