'A consistent story that seems to be emerging is that, the overall numbers look roughly in balance, but there is an imbalance in what employers seem to be wanting and what they are finding in the workforce,' said David Auerbach, PhD, director, research and costs trends for the Center for Interdisciplinary Health Workforce Studies at Montana State University.

The nursing shortage. Chances are as a CNO, you think about it every day. So, would you be surprised if I told you that many nurse workforce forecasts predict there will a balance of RN supply and demand in the future? However, there's more to the story than just numbers. During a recent webinar on nurse supply and demand, nurse workforce researcher Joanne Spetz, PhD, professor, Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco, shared data on CNOs' perceptions of the nurse labor market. You can read about your peers' experiences in this week's feature article.
