Federal Reserve interest rate policies have elicited a direct slowdown in residential and commercial real estate, as policymakers prioritize inflation control over market activity. Susan Collins, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, discussed the value of making more gradual rate moves and suggested that she would currently favor a 25-basis-point interest rate hike. "Adjusting slowly gives more time to assess the incoming data before we make each decision, as we get close to where we're going to hold," Collins noted.
