Good evening, There are some of us who are old enough to remember when Christmas adverts on TV only happened in the last two weeks in December. Nowadays, The Christmas Ad has become ‘a thing’...that is something which has somehow become news. The release of the John Lewis ad yesterday was the signal for everyone else to get their offerings online and on TV...and the chance for them to be reviewed as if Shakespeare had suddenly produced a new play. At the risk of sounding a little Scrooge-like, while I might have already ordered a turkey (someone said there was going to be a shortage), that is the only concession to Christmas I am likely to make until around December 14...10 days before panic day. Because if you get organised too soon, the festive season just isn’t the same. Writing Christmas cards with a glass of port in hand and getting tied up in Sellotape trying to wrap that football should be left until December when they can be savoured. Christmas ads in the first week in November? Bah humbug. Until next time, take care, Gillian |
