Dear friend, This year, like so many other times throughout our history, the American people came together time and again. We have faced challenges as a people this year that threatened the strength of the American resolve. As we give thanks for all of His blessings, let us commit to not being divided as a people and not retreating into our own corners. And, let us celebrate that we finally have good news on the horizon: Americans are being inoculated against the virus and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that 2020 will soon be last year. COVID Relief, Year End Funding I am thrilled to have secured more than a dozen provisions helping South Carolina families and small businesses in the COVID-19 relief, government funding, and tax extender packages. Whether it’s improving educational access for students during the pandemic, providing more resources for small businesses to stay open and their workers to stay employed, increasing broadband access to aid with telehealth, or a number of other solutions, this is a great step forward. Christmas Message This year, I missed out on going door to door bringing gifts to children around North Charleston with our amazing police officers and firefighters—one of my favorite Christmas traditions. I am hopeful that this time next year we’ll all be with our extended families celebrating the holiday season; but today, as you gather with your loved ones, be it in person, virtually, or in your prayers, my earnest hope and desire is that we—the American people—are reminded that we are stronger as one united people. We have much to be grateful for, even as we hope for better days ahead. Sincerely,
