Circle of Blue intern Zara Gounden reported on water-climate refugees crossing the Mediterranean.

Dear John —

Circle of Blue is inspiring a new generation of reporters who see the world in news ways.

Over the summer, intern Zara Gounden co-led Circle of Blue's HotSpotsH2O coverage of emerging water chokepoints around the world. She also brought her graphic novel talents to bring complex stories to life in new ways. She is a Davis Scholar in her third year at New York University London, majoring in Global Liberal Studies with a concentration in Politics, Rights, and Development.

She is part of a long Circle of Blue tradition of mentoring promising young journalists. This includes our work with Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism, Michigan State University, and the Villars Institute for Systems Leadership.

Right now, your donation has the most impact ever for those who aspire to inform water's future.

NewsMatch, dedicated to excellence in journalism, is honoring Circle of Blue with a special triple-match opportunity until December 31. That means each dollar you give brings us $3. When you donate $50, Circle of Blue receives $150, a $1,000 gift equals $3,000!

This includes monthly, recurring pledges, which are counted for the whole year. (A $10 monthly pledge is worth $360 to Circle of Blue.)

Here’s the link to support award-winning journalism — and enterprising interns like Zara — that makes a difference in a world when trust and context are more important than ever.
