Infineon Partners with Edge Impulse to Expand Their Choice of Platforms and Edge AI Capabilities

To offer developers edge Machine Learning (ML) options, using the high-performance, low-power PSoC 63 BLE Microcontroller (MCU) Infineon has teamed up with Edge Impulse.

Just this past week Infineon announced its intention to work directly with Edge Impulse. The move is meant to offer a broader range of options to developers of AI-enabled IoT applications using the PSoC 63 Bluetooth LE MCUs.

TI Releases a New Arm Cortex-M0+ MCU Portfolio Aimed at Affordability

The industry-low pricing of this new 32-bit general-purpose microcontroller (MCU) portfolio from Texas Instruments starts at $0.39.

The initial launch, in March 2023, saw dozens of MCUs supported by intuitive software. There were also design tools allowing developers more time innovating and less time evaluating and coding when using the MSPM0 MCU portfolio.

Adafruit Releases Feather RP2040 Board with Two USB Ports

Everyone is used to a dev board with a USB port, but how about two USB ports, that’s new and different. This Feather RP2040 board has a USB Type-A host and a Type-C port.

The board doesn’t come with two USB port peripherals but does come with a PIO peripheral that can be used to emulate a USB host peripheral.

Microcontrollers

Just so you know Circuit Cellar Experts the microcontroller (MCU) market is

seeing widespread growth in the last five years. The predictions are that growth will remain high, for many reasons not the least of which is connectivity features.

The most recent iterations of MCUs are complete with Bluetooth LE 5.2 connectivity offering a wide range of features in the Internet of Things (IoT) space.

Ultra-low-power consumption is right up there with connectivity options, and even the most general purpose MCUs are low power.

But the advent of edge AI enable MCUs is by far the most telling feature of growth.

Although fairly new, this segment of the market is predicted to grow at a faster rate then the general purpose MCUs.

As the pricing of MCUs continues to fall, and other factors play a role, estimates have the market share falling, but growth in the market will remain high, as prices level off from earlier higher overall rates. The Market is set to grow, in advance of 2030.
