Microcontroller Hitting EVs Hard

The microcontroller industry has seen a surge since the tech gurus had said it was caput. It certainly is not, especially in the EV market space.

Giants in the industry, like Microchip and NXP, are producing more MCUs than previously, now that motor control and power units are becoming utilized in more devices and equipment.

The big bang is that many of the high-performance issues have beaddressed and moving into the marketplace at a rapid rate are a variety of MCUs that can handle faster processing, and more safety functionality.

With the automotive industry on a roller coaster ride the latest cars, and now some truck-sized vehicles are using advanced sensor interfacing, opening the door to a whole world of digital power units. The necessary accompanying technology is becoming a huge business.

In the new year we will be asking for opinions, what would you like to see, more editorial or less, more of a particular topic, or less? Let us know. Reach out to the Product Editor
