Networking vendor Cisco has released patches to fix a flaw in its Adaptive Security Appliance software that can be remotely exploited.

The Australian car-sharing firm GoGet says its databases were hacked last June and a suspect, a man from the suburb of Penrose in Illawarra, NSW, has been arrested in connection with the hack.

Google's rivals in the online advertising and shopping fields say the search behemoth continues to prevent others from competing fairly, despite having copped a huge fine from the European Union and been ordered to modify its ways.

The Court of Appeal in London has ruled that an overarching data retention law put in place by the UK Government, allowing access to phone and email records, lacks adequate safeguards.
