City Council charges Joseph: The City Council voted 4-2 Tuesday to charge Gregory Joseph with incompetence, neglect of duty and gross misconduct, and will consider removing him as Mayor LaToya Cantrell's communications director at a hearing next month. The move is unprecedented in recent memory, and has its roots in the mayor's pushback against the recall effort against her. Ben Myers has the story.
Moore challenges clemency requests: Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore has asked a judge to halt the clemency applications filed by three Louisiana prisoners sentenced to death, and he's expected to do the same with others who've recently had their requests expedited by Gov. John Bel Edwards. Moore contends they're ineligible, and was flanked at a press conference Tuesday by family members of victims. James Finn has the details.

The Archdiocese of New Orleans surprised its parishes, schools and charities last week by saying they will need to help pay for settlements related to the sexual abuse of children by local clergy.
