    To support the learning, leadership, and growth of local government professionals, the LGMA offers a variety of scholarships to be awarded in 2020. Along with our regular scholarships, we are pleased to announce that a NEW BC First Nations Public Service Scholarship is available in partnership with the First Nations Public Service Secretariat.

    If you work in a BC local government or First Nation government and are enrolled in full or part-time studies in local government administration or management at an accredited post-secondary course or program, consider applying for one of these scholarships. Review the criteria and eligibility outlined for each scholarship on our website LGMA|Scholarships and apply online by 4:30 p.m. September 30.

    Interested in a virtual training series on climate preparedness, specific to your community? The Fraser Basin Council invites First Nations and local governments in small communities (<10,000 people) in BC to express interest in taking part in a Community Climate Preparedness Virtual Workshop Series in winter or spring of 2020/21. This will consist of 4 virtual training sessions on the basics of how to conduct a climate change adaptation engagement and planning process. Links will be made between building resilience to climate change and building general community resilience as part of the recovery from COVID-19, which may include looking at a resilience area of interest such as food sovereignty.
