Associate Member Marketplace | Announcing a FREE new online tool for wood design and building: CodeCHEK A webinar on Friday, September 25 at 10:00 AM PST will provide an important learning opportunity on CodeCHEK for all local government planning and building officials. Advances in engineered wood building materials and systems together with new building codes have expanded the possibilities for wood buildings. Checking conformance of proposed new buildings with building codes is now easier with a new tool developed under the Wood WORKS! program by the Canadian Wood Council. CodeCHEK allows designers, builders and local government planning/building officials to determine how different wood systems (mass timber, light wood-frame and encapsulated mass timber) can be used in a variety of building types within current building codes. It also lists the applicable construction requirements related to fire safety. Funded by the B.C. provincial government through Forestry Innovation Investment, CodeCHEK’s capabilities include the 2018 B.C. Building Code, the new City of Vancouver Building Bylaw and the recently implemented 2020 National Building Code Tall Wood Provisions. Additional information on the tool is available here: CodeCHEK.ca Registration: wood-works.ca/bc

MUNICIPAL NATURAL ASSETS INITIATIVE SEEKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FROM LOCAL GOVERNMENTS For most local governments, natural asset management journeys begin with building an inventory of existing natural assets. Municipal Natural Assets Initiative (MNAI) is pursuing several funding opportunities that would allow us to subsidize multiple local governments across Canada to develop their natural asset inventories starting this fall. If your community is interested in developing your natural asset inventory, please fill out the expressions of interest form at this link and send it to us. MNAI will use the information you provide as part of a selection process (subject to funding confirmation). Full details can be found at: https://mnai.ca/scaling-up-natural-asset-inventories-across-canada/ CLEANBC COMMUNITIES FUND (CCF) - INTAKE 2 NOW OPEN The second intake of the CleanBC Communities Fund (CCF) is now open and will close on Nov 12, 2020.
