BC Register of Historic Places – Arches Platform Engagement This year, the BC Register of Historic Places will be migrating to a new database platform. The BC Heritage Branch has selected the Arches platform and is currently working on the customization and data migration required for the transition to a new platform. Heritage Branch is hosting virtual engagement sessions to demonstrate the Arches platform, and seek feedback on new features, functionalities, and processes to manage register submissions. Sessions and Registration: Wednesday June 7: 1:30-3:00 (REGISTER HERE) Engagement Topics: 1. Benefits of the Arches platform including new functionality and greatly improved public access. 2. Input on functions and types of information on historic sites that local governments and others would like to explore given a more powerful platform. 3. Coordination on systems and compatibility with local governments who host or manage their own platforms and heritage data. 4. Potential changes for staff including a potential new, streamlined procedure to add or manage register submissions and login credentials. Foundations of Local Government Learning Series Registration Now Open This program is in its 40th year! Previously delivered in person as 'MATI 1' then 'MATI Foundations', it shifted online in 2020 as the 'Foundations of Local Govt Learning Series' and this format continues, providing increased accessibility for up to 72 from participants across the province each year. Regardless of delivery mode, the program goal endures: to assist BC local government professionals to gain practical knowledge related to many core functions of local government administration. Participants become more effective at collaborating with elected officials and colleagues across departments; and have increased understanding to better contribute to their organization and deliver services for their communities. Funding covering up to 50% of the program fee is available for eligible participants and awarded based on organizational financial need.
