The S.C Chamber PAC has inaugurated a new S.C. Election Center website platform and announced support for 17 candidates in the upcoming primaries. Candidates with a score of 80% or above on the S.C. Chamber Legislative Scorecard have been considered.

Inman wastewater plant expands with USDA grant

The city of Inman will accept a $10.8 million loan and $2 million grant for wastewater plant expansion as the U.S. Department of Agriculture invests $281 million in water and wastewater infrastructure across the country. Inman is one of 106 recipients across 36 states and Puerto Rico.

Clemson explores costs of flood mitigation solutions

A multi-disciplinary team from Clemson University will evaluate infrastructure intervention initiatives for quelling the impact of floods in South Carolina’s coastal communities with support from a $404,000 coastal community resilience grant. Researchers will conduct geospatial analyses of flood hot spots and the economic impact in Georgetown County.

Boeing to begin involuntary layoffs

Boeing is beginning involuntary layoffs this week as part of the workforce reduction that the company announced last month.The first involuntary layoff notifications will be delivered this week to about 6,770 U.S. employees. 

Warehousing company expanding in Berkeley County

A third-party warehousing and industrial packaging company is expanding its operations in Berkeley County to better serve the Volvo Cars facility in Ridgeville. Kontane Logistics Inc.specializes in providing just-in-time services to the truck and automotive manufacturing industry.
