"My intention is always to produce remarkable pieces of art. I believe that art collectors deserve the best - art that will enrich lives."
Artist Statement: "It is impossible to obtain a complete picture of anything in life. Things remain unseen, words remain unsaid, and thoughts remain hidden. Everything is at once straightforward, yet multi-faceted and complex, with depths that we often only sense but can never fully understand. It is up to ourselves to complete the picture from whatever information we are presented with, and in that way the external becomes internalised.
By combining realism with abstraction, my art combines the things we know with the things we feel, coexisting in a world of emotive expressionist mark-making and colour. Symbolism often plays a part, particularly text, which excites a part of the brain beyond imagery. It echoes my passion for playing jazz, where I improvise over a motif, exploring alternatives, and push it away from its starting point: recognisable, but new.
There is something intrinsically appealing to me about creating something interesting and beautiful out of base materials - like a kind of alchemy to excite the brain. Working in layers enables me to create an evolving image that continually captures time through depth. I find oil paint the perfect medium for my intentions, enabling a conversation to take place between traditional and contemporary art, resulting in art pieces that feel alive and express a psychological reality."
