The final national coverage determination (NCD) on Preexposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Using Antiretroviral Therapy to Prevent Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection will not be posted by the expected completion date of October 10, 2023. A final decision will be forthcoming. CMS received several public comments that expressed concern over the potentially complex transition of coverage of these drugs from Part D to Part B. CMS will work with Part D plans and pharmacies to facilitate an orderly transition to minimize any disruption in access for those beneficiaries currently on PrEP as we work towards finalizing the NCD. |
