Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published states Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Annual Reports for federal fiscal years 2020 and 2021 on Medicaid.gov. The CHIP Annual Reports ask states to provide information about current policies and operations for their CHIP programs on a variety of topics, as outlined in Section 2108(e) of the Social Security Act.

The specific information states include in the reports pertain to:

  • Program changes implemented over the past fiscal year;
  • State enrollment and uninsurance data; and
  • Current state policies and operations related to the following program areas
  • CHIP state plan goals and objectives,
  • CHIP program financing/budgets, and
  • Program challenges and accomplishments.
