Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released frequently asked questions to help states understand how CMS will apply the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 new enforcement authority related to states' federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP). As part of this authority, CMS is required to apply a 0.25 percentage point FMAP reduction to states' overall FMAP if they fail to report certain required data in a timely way.
