View in browser | Distributed by Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) | | CMS Releases Three Medicaid State Plan Amendment Templates for Justice-Involved Juveniles Requirements  Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released three Medicaid State Plan Amendment (SPA) templates. These templates are designed to streamline state submission of the required and optional state plan requirements as a result of the passage of sections 5121 and 5122 of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023 (CAA, 2023). The first two, listed below, are mandatory for states. SPAs should be submitted no later than March 31, 2025 for a January 1, 2025 effective date as required by the CAA, 2023. Attachment 3.1-M Page 1 and 2- Mandatory Coverage of Eligible Juveniles who are Inmates of a Public Institution Post Adjudication of Charges; and Supplement to Attachment 3.1-A and 3.1-Bâ Targeted Case Management Services for Eligible Juveniles. The third template is optional for states, and available for submission no earlier than January 1, 2025. SPAs should be submitted by the last day of the quarter for which coverage is requested to be effective.
