Homes built before 2003 may contain asbestos..

Australian homes built before 2003 may contain asbestos, although undisturbed asbestos materials in a good, stable condition are unlikely to release dangerous fibres but should be checked for wear and tear.

If you believe your property may contain asbestos consider the following:
  • Asbestos products should not be cut, drilled, dropped, scraped, water-blasted or dumped
  • Any person handing or disposing of asbestos must comply with the requirements of the Health (Asbestos) Regulations 1992
  • If asbestos materials are damaged, or there is greater than 10sqm to be removed, a licensed asbestos removalist is legally required.
For more information about identifying and correctly removing asbestos, contact the City of Cockburn’s Health Services on 08 9411 3444 or email health@cockburn.wa.gov.au

Is your pool or spa safe?

Remember, as the owner of a pool or spa, you are responsible for the safety of your kids and their friends. Make sure objects like pot plants, hedges, BBQ's and toys are removed so children can not climb onto them and get into the pool or spa. The City sends out a four yearly inspection letter to all pool and spa owners so when you receive it, call us to arrange an inspection. We will check that everything is compliant so you can ensure that your kids and their friends will be safe.
