Bethesda mental health clinic opens in Cockburn

Community wellness has received a welcome boost with the opening of Bethesda’s first private mental health clinic in the City of Cockburn, highlighting local government’s vital role in supporting the establishment of sustainable health services.

Mayor Logan Howlett said the facility would further consolidate a growing cohort of health providers in Cockburn Central, particularly diagnostic, technical, therapeutic and direct health to prevent, diagnose and treat a range of conditions and illnesses.

Building it better in Cockburn

We are delighted to announce our eight new Design Review Panel members for 2023-2025: Dominic Snellgrove [Chair], Geoffrey London [Deputy Chair], Lisa Shine, David Barr, Munira Mackay, Simon Venturi, Brett Wood-Gush and Annelise Safstrom.

These talented individuals involved in architecture, landscape architecture and urban design will provide input into the design quality of significant and complex development application proposals in Cockburn. They will help shape and ensure the look, sustainability, tree coverage, character, safety, and functionality of building infrastructure throughout Cockburn for generations to come.

Need funding for a community service or project?

The City’s grant and donation program is now open for applications. Last year, Emmanuel Catholic College received $1,000 to fund environmental education incursions for their students. Delivered by WA Wildlife, their students got hands on experience with wildlife (like these cuddly koalas) and learned how to get involved in local conservation efforts.

What could a grant help your school or organisation to achieve? Applications close at 4pm on Friday 24 March.

Celebrate diversity in Cockburn at Cultural Fair

What makes Cockburn the best place to be? Could it be the many different cultures and communities that call Cockburn home? Our Cultural Fair event on Saturday 8 April at Harmony Oval, Atwell is an opportunity to celebrate our diversity and we encourage you to come along and immerse yourself in it.

Enjoy performances by multi-instrumentalist Si Millumby, Danilo Paz with his Brazilian, European and African sounds, and Rhianna who sings in both English and Arabic. We’ll also see the finalists of Cockburn's Got Talent battle it out for first place and you could win a Sheridan football signed by the Fremantle Dockers!
