As advised by the WA Premier there is a five-day lockdown in Perth, Peel and the South West until 6pm, Friday 5 February 2021. This includes the City of Cockburn. The closures are necessary to protect the community, especially our most vulnerable. What services & facilities have CLOSED? All City facilities will be closed this week, until further notice: * Administration Building/ Reception * Cockburn ARC * Cockburn Seniors Centre * Libraries * Cockburn Youth Centre * Bibra Lake Operations Centre * Port Coogee Marina Services Office * Cockburn Volunteer Resource Centre. Playgrounds and outdoor recreation spaces/ facilities In-line with the lockdown announcement, the following public facilities are closed until further notice: * All playgrounds and water play areas * Dog parks * Skate parks and pump tracks * Exercise equipment * Barbecues and drink fountains * Public toilets. Henderson Waste Recovery Park The Henderson Waste Recovery Park (HWRP) will not accept domestic deliveries and will only be open to commercial customers. The Reuse Shop at HWRP will stay closed until further notice. Community Concert Cancelled We have cancelled the annual Cockburn Central community concert, scheduled for Saturday 6 February as it is not prudent to stage the event given the circumstances, even if the lockdown has ended, due to large audience numbers. Annual General Meeting of Electors Postponed The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Electors scheduled for Tuesday, 2 February 2021 is postponed until further notice. Services & facilities still OPERATING * Bins, verge and junk collections * Parks and beaches - residents can only use parks and beaches within 5km of their homes, in groups of two and wearing masks at all times * Manning Park stairs * Cockburn Care – in-home services will continue, except for social club activities * Family and Community Services – financial counselling and parenting services will operate via telephone and online. In-person appointments will be postponed/cancelled * In-home Childcare/Family Day Care – independent contractor employees who are essential workers and will choose to either close or operate within State Government health regulations. Any further changes to the operation of City's facilities', community services or events will be detailed on the City’s website, eNews and social media. For health updates on COVID-19, visit the State Government’s COVID-19 website. You can contact the City, preferably on email at customer@cockburn.wa.gov.au, or by calling 9411 3444. I encourage our residents to heed the State Government’s instruction not to use playgrounds and observe social distancing when exercising, and to wear masks outside the home. Kind regards Mayor Logan K. Howlett, JP |
