Go Volunteer Top Tips

What happens when you express interest in a volunteer position online?

Once you find an opportunity you are interested in, simply complete the online expression of interest form. This will be sent directly to the organisation who has advertised the role.

The organisation will respond directly to you with details and information about next steps. These may include:

  • Interview
  • Reference checking
  • Working With Children or Police Checks
  • Training
  • Information sessions

As many not-for-profit organisations looking for volunteers are operating on small budgets and limited staff (who are often volunteers themselves), it might take a few days for organisations to respond to your application. So be patient and don’t get disheartened.

If you don't hear from the organisation contact the Cockburn Volunteer Resource Centre.

Volunteer Ted

Where in Cockburn has Volunteer Ted been?

Volunteer Ted spent time at Native ARC. He learnt about all the different volunteer roles and how volunteers work tirelessly to save the lives of native animals and assist with rehabilitation. The name Native ARC refers to the Native Animal Rehabilitation Centre which was initially formed out of concern for the rescue, treatment and care of injured, sick, orphaned and displaced native wildlife.

Native ARC are currently looking volunteers to fill these roles:
Animal Care Volunteer
Fundraising Volunteer
Gardening Volunteer

Native ARC also has corporate volunteering opportunities where teams can volunteer together.

If you would like more information about corporate volunteering opportunities, or are interested in having Volunteer Ted to visit your organisation, please email the Volunteer Resource Centre volunteering@cockburn.wa.gov.au
