How he’s approaching reforms in America’s center of innovation.

Code Conference 2020

Hi,

Gavin Newsom is governor of California, and California is an important state: It’s the world’s fifth-largest economy and home to the most important tech companies and Hollywood alike.

It’s also a laboratory for some of the country’s most progressive experiments. The Golden State has passed a spate of far-reaching legislation, including higher fuel emission standards to combat climate change; the nation’s first consumer privacy law regulating use of data; and AB 5, a controversial new labor law that reclassifies contractors and is currently facing legal challenges from Uber and several other affected businesses.

Newsom is now tasked with implementing these progressive reforms in the US’ most populous state — and in some cases warding off legal challenges from the federal government. We’ll ask him how he plans to handle this and more at Code.

You can join us May 26-28 for that talk and many more at Code’s new location: The Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, California.
