Columbia Fireflies will not take the field in 2020

Minor League Baseball announced today that Major League Baseball will not provide players to its 160 affiliated teams. The Fireflies’ home opener was originally set for April 9 before the MiLB season was delayed on March 12.

CAE to receive $2.7 million in federal funds for improvements

Columbia Metropolitan Airport will use the funds, part of $800 million awarded by the FAA, to construct a service road and improve its terminal. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport will receive $4.9 million.

Economist: Restaurant spending could predict spread

An economist with JPMorgan Chase said the level of spending in restaurants three weeks ago was the strongest predictor of a surge in coronavirus cases during that time period.
