#1 Comcast: No Immediate Plans for Newly Purchased Spectrum
Comcast shed some light on its plans for the spectrum it purchased in the recently concluded broadcast incentive auction, now that the quiet period associated with it is over. The company acquired $1.7 billion of spectrum covering 88% of its footprint and most of its top 25 markets.
WHY THIS MATTERS: While Comcast doesnt have any immediate plans for the spectrum, the company stressed that its new mobile product, which will lean on an MVNO deal with Verizon Communications, doesnt hinge on that new acquired mobile capacity.

#3 YouTube Ad Controversy Doesnt Hurt Alphabet
Google parent Alphabet posted strong Q1 results that were driven in large part by advertising on mobile and YouTube. The company reported yesterday that its first-quarter revenue was up 22% year over year.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Overall, YouTube seems to have survived its recent advertising controversy unscathed. Several brands pulled their ads from YouTube after discovering that they were appearing next to extremist or inappropriate content.

Quote Of The Day

Though streaming and the emerging digital multichannel market is largely perceived as a threat to the traditional TV industry, the reality is that it has helped reinvigorate audiences love of TV, no small thanks to the flexibility streaming allows. Rediscovering old favourites, binging on the high quality original content developed by streaming services, and catching up on hot shows they may have missed when they premiered has created a richer, more complete TV experience. And while mobile is undoubtedly important when it comes to long-form TV content, the TV set remains the cornerstone of the TV experience.
